Milgram experiment

I was baffled to see how 65% of the people continued the experiment to lethal voltage. I was surprised to see how they did not listen to their morals and conscience just because someone in authority told them to continue.  These leads me to the question whether the people were free or not to stop the experiment and not continue just because they were told to.  Based on the Agency Theory people are free in their actions. They weren't bound by destiny to continue but could have stopped and started a new chain of events by not continuing. Also the people acting as prison guards could have stopped and quit the experiment.  They were free in doing this, however they let their environment and setting influence them. However, based on the agency theory, the prison guards could have listened to their morals and didn't have to do the experiment. The agency theory states that we can make decisions and perform actions and start new chain of event. It was the peoples' choice to listen to their instructions and perform what they felt was contrary to their morals or to not do the experiment. Based on the agency theory they could have done the experiment, creating that event, or they could have decided to quit the experiment and create that event. The agency theory agrees with universal casualty in how one event was caused by another which was caused by one before that and so forth. However, the agency theory states that people can cause events to happen. We, the agents, can cause a new tree of events to happen. According to the agency theory people can cause events to occur.  It was up to the people to choose whether to continue or not. Based on the agency theory they had freewill.

Utilitarian responses to my cross benefit analysis

I think that based on the cost benefit analysis, based on utilitarianism, going to school brings more pleasure/benefits than the pain/costs.  Even though it costs a lot for tuition you benefit greatly from it. Your salary increases and you also learn many core values and characteristics from going to school.  I think a utilitarian might object with tuition because of some of the negative influences( such as bad influence from peers).  Its difficult to put a dollar value to a lot of the benefits of tuition; its easier to see the actual costs of tuition than to be able to put a value on the benefits and calculate how much you actually benefit from tuition.  I think that some would object to some of the values that i put for the benefits.  They might not agree with the value i put for, say, responsibility.  They may argue that its not worth as much as i declared in my cost benefit analysis, which would change the value of the benefits of tuition.

In the face of death

They said that my answers were inconsistent. They said that it doesn't make sense why it was okay to save three lives in one scenario while not in the other one.

I think their results were pretty accurate. They said that i believed killing all the children was right cause she was sparring them of the pain they would have received when they were going to be killed.  Her doing this did not benefit herself but was in the interest of the kids. It was selfless.  While they said my other two scenarios contradicted each other which i guess that is true.  The two other scenarios were similar yet my answers were different.  I think i said it was wrong to kill the guy in the life boat cause i view eating people as morally wrong and i feel that they could have at least let him die instead, even if his blood would be in better condition.

Truman show

Through out the movie there were several unusual things that occurred that is not normal in normal everyday life.  Three things that were strange was the rain, a studio light, and Truman's wife.  One time when it was raining it was only raining on Truman.  This is very unusual cause it doesn't usually rain on that small of a radius. Also a studio light randomly fell from the sky.  This would seem very strange to me and would make me question what was going on.  Why would a studio light fall from the sky?..unless I was on a stage.... Finlay Truman's wife also would make me question the realness of this life. She was always advertising things anytime she could.  Like she was on TV....These three things would stop me in my footsteps and really make me question on whether what was going on around me was real and not just a show.
